History of Laser Hair Removal |
|
|
Introduction Lasers have provided the most effective method of hair removal to date, proving to be longer-lasting and less problematic than other procedures. Hair removal methods such as shaving target hair above the surface of the skin and cause problems beneath the skin such as ingrown hairs. The results are extremely short-term and irritating to the surface. Methods such as tweezing or waxing remove the hair either partially or fully from the hair shaft may last longer than surface methods, but are never permanent and often result in irritation such as ingrown hairs as well. Electrolysis is another possible procedure, which is discussed in greater detail below, is invasive to the skin and may not be effective on curly hair. The procedure itself can also be very long and painful, with typically unsatisfying results. Lasers allow for effective, long-lasting hair removal that targets the hair in the follicle without damaging the skin. |
